Tourmaline

Tourmaline is a semi-precious stone that exists in a wide variety of colors: black, blue, brown, yellow, pink, green etc. Bi-colored Tourmaline crystals are common. Some crystals are pink at one end, and green at the other end: this type of Tourmaline crystal is called Watermelon Tourmaline.

Tourmaline is mined in Brazil and some African countries such as Mozambique and Togo. In the United States, Tourmaline can be found in mines in the San Diego, California area. Some of those mines like the Himalaya Mine, the Cryo-Genie Mine, and the Oceanview Mine, near the town of Pala, CA, offer rockhounds and visitors to search for Tourmaline in the tailings, for a fee.
